IEC 62133-2:2017+ AMd1:2021 issued new details

Constant Temperature Charging (Section 7.1.2): The updated standard revises the time for constant temperature charging of cells, changing the duration from the previous fixed range of 1 hour and 4 hours to a flexible range of 1 to 4 hours. Additionally, the charging mode has been updated from constant voltage charging to a combination of constant current charging followed by constant voltage charging.

Crush Test (Section 7.3.5): The updated standard removes the previous specification on the upper limit of the charging temperature for the crush test, providing more flexibility in test conditions.

Overcharge Test (Section 7.3.6): The revised standard adds further detail regarding the overcharge test requirements. Specifically, if the battery contains a charging protection circuit, it must be capable of preventing the cell from catching fire or exploding under overcharge conditions.

Mandatory Internal Short Circuit Test (Section 7.3.9): The new version modifies the test temperature parameters, changing them from the previous fixed 10°C/45°C to a range that is determined by the manufacturer’s specified lower and upper charging temperature limits.
